Expo Router API Routes
Create hosted server-side API routes for Expo apps to protect secrets, validate inputs, and proxy external services.
Skills
Use for Expo Router apps that need server-side work: keep third-party keys off devices, query a database, receive webhooks, rate-limit requests, or validate data before writes. Define handlers in `app/**/+api.ts` and export HTTP-method functions. Public reads may belong in the client; simple CRUD or realtime needs may fit a managed backend better. EAS Hosting is the deployment target described by this skill.
Permissions
Prerequisites
- An Expo Router project configured for EAS Hosting; identify server-only secrets and the external service, if any.
Permissions
- May edit `app/**/+api.ts` and deployment configuration when requested. POST/PUT/DELETE handlers can change remote data; test locally and do not publish or write to production without explicit authorization.
Limitations
Do not move every public request, simple CRUD operation, or realtime flow into an API route; deployment depends on the project’s EAS Hosting setup.
