FastAPI: scaffold a bounded asynchronous API project
Create a modular FastAPI structure with dependencies, configuration, error handling, and tests.
Skills
Confirm routes, data layer, authentication, and deployment environment. Create clear `app/api`, `core/config`, `services`, `schemas`, and `tests` boundaries. Define dependency injection and startup/shutdown lifecycles for shared resources. Load and validate configuration from environment variables; never place secrets in source. Use async for I/O-bound paths and avoid blocking the event loop. Add consistent error responses, request validation, and pytest coverage. Start the dev server and run tests, then list generated files and configuration still required from the user.
Permissions
Prerequisites
- For scaffolding a FastAPI service with routes, dependency injection, middleware, configuration, and tests.
- Needs project boundaries, API requirements, storage, and deployment target.
Permissions
- May write project files, dependencies, and tests; runtime may connect to databases or services.
- Write only within agreed stack and scope; do not commit or deploy.
Limitations
Use async for I/O-bound work, environment-based config, managed resource lifetimes, error handling, and runnable tests.
