Pause an agent workflow to ask for missing user information

Emit a structured input request when a workflow lacks a decision or field, then continue after the user responds.

Goal

Have the agent ask explicitly for required information instead of guessing and proceeding.

Steps

  1. Define missing fields that require clarification and the allowed answer range. [request]
  2. Yield RequestInput(...) from an async workflow node; do not use unvalidated free text as control state. [request]
  3. Have the client present the request, validate the reply, and construct the resume input. [request]
  4. Confirm resume continues at the waiting node and completed nodes do not run again. [workflow]

How to verify

Missing information pauses the workflow and shows a question; valid replies resume and invalid ones remain rejected.

Troubleshooting

If work repeats after resume, inspect session events and workflow resume behavior; do not rerun every node in the client.
