Algorithmic art: build an original generative work
Define the generative aesthetic, then implement an interactive system with seeds and parameters.
Skills
Treat the user’s prompt as a starting point. Name the movement and describe how mathematical relations, noise or randomness, and particle or flow-field states produce the visual result. Then implement an original p5.js algorithm with a fixed seed for reproducibility and a small set of meaningful controls for exploring variations. Let the system generate most of the work rather than disguising a static template as algorithmic art, and do not reproduce a specific artist’s composition or expression. The deliverable may include a philosophy note in Markdown, an interactive HTML viewer, and JavaScript. Test whether different seeds and parameters produce explainable, visible changes.
Permissions
Prerequisites
- The user requests generative, algorithmic, or procedural art as a runnable original code work.
- Define the algorithmic concept, random seed, and adjustable parameters before designing the interactive canvas.
Permissions
- May create local Markdown philosophy notes, an HTML viewer, and JavaScript/p5.js algorithm files.
- Keep the artwork original rather than copying an existing artist; expose how parameters affect variation.
Limitations
The workflow creates an algorithmic aesthetic concept first, then expresses it through seeded randomness, noise, and particles or fields with tunable parameters.
