MCP Builder: build MCP services
Guides developers in exposing an external API as discoverable, well-described, and verified MCP tools.
Skills
Use this skill to expose server-side API capabilities to MCP clients. Read the API documentation first and map resources, operations, and error responses; then choose a transport and SDK. Tool names and descriptions should explain when to call a tool, which arguments it needs, and what side effects it may cause. Prefer concise structured results and stable error messages. Validate inputs and outputs with protocol checks, real examples, and failure cases. Keep API keys in a controlled server environment and grant only the permissions the use case needs. This workflow does not audit the upstream API or prove every call is safe.
Permissions
Prerequisites
- Basic API or MCP knowledge
Permissions
- Grant credentials and network access per tool capability; default to least privilege
Limitations
Guides MCP server development; it does not establish third-party API availability or safety.
