Azure resource lookup: search within a subscription
Prefer a dedicated MCP query; otherwise use bounded Resource Graph queries.
Skills
Confirm the Azure subscription and target resource group. Check for a dedicated MCP query tool before using `az graph query`. When needed, generate a command with `mcp_azure_mcp_extension_cli_generate` and verify that the KQL predicate and JMESPath output include only required fields. Pass `--subscriptions <id>` or `--first N` to bound results in a large tenant. Install `az extension add --name resource-graph` only if the local CLI lacks the extension. Azure Resource Graph is read-only: do not use it to update or delete resources.
Permissions
Prerequisites
- For locating Azure resources by name, type, or property and producing a scoped inventory.
- Requires a target subscription; bound large-tenant queries by subscription or result count.
Permissions
- May run read-only Azure Resource Graph queries and read resource metadata.
- The skill forbids mutations through ARG; installing the resource-graph extension changes the local environment.
Limitations
Check for a dedicated MCP tool first; generate KQL/CLI from current docs and bound large tenant queries with `--subscriptions` or `--first`.
