Prepare interview questions from a recording

Transcribe an authorized recording with Deepgram, then ask Claude to draft open-ended interview questions from the transcript.

Goal

Turn an interview recording into a reviewed, usable question list.

Steps

  1. Fetch an allowed audio URL with requests.get(url, timeout=60) and call Deepgram using PrerecordedOptions(model="nova-2", smart_format=True). [audio] [transcript]
  2. Read results.channels[0].alternatives[0].transcript and pass the transcript to client.messages.create with instructions to draft open-ended questions. [audio] [transcript]
  3. Have an interviewer check names and question bias against the audio; export only reviewed questions and delete audio/transcript under the retention window. [audio] [transcript]

How to verify

The transcript file parses and contains the expected speech; each final question traces to a reviewed interview topic.

Troubleshooting

On download failure, check URL access, timeout, and Deepgram quota; manually correct unclear passages instead of asking the model to guess.

Limitations

Transcription can omit or misrecognize speech; generated questions are drafts that an interviewer must review for accuracy, bias, and privacy.
