Azure AI Gateway: inspect APIM routes and protect keys
Diagnose gateway configuration and put policy/backend changes behind release approval.
Skills
Confirm the APIM service, resource group, environment, and target API/backend. Use `az apim show` for the gateway URL and inspect routes or policies with `az apim backend list` and scoped API/policy queries. Do not default to `az apim subscription keys list`: subscription keys are sensitive credentials. Diagnose with gateway logs and bounded tests; never put a production key in curl command history. For a policy/backend change, prepare a diff, impact scope, rollback, and non-production test plan. Publish only after explicit approval and then verify the target deployment.
Permissions
Prerequisites
- For Azure API Management AI Gateway routing, backends, policies, request debugging, rate limits, caching, or safety policies.
- Identify the APIM service, resource group, API/deployment, and environment first.
Permissions
- May read APIM configuration, backends, and policies; publishing policies or changing backends alters live traffic.
- Subscription keys grant access; never expose them in output, URLs, shell history, or logs.
Limitations
Prefer read-only diagnosis. Show diffs and tests and obtain confirmation before publishing policies/backends. Check secret storage/rotation before key use.
